The family remodeler in a luxury-only corridor

Look up remodelers around here and you'll notice something: they photograph estates. That's the market they want. Nobody built a first-class operation for the family kitchen, the one that has to survive homework, team snacks, and Sunday dinner, and still be the nicest room in the house. That's the company we built.

Mayer's Construction is a family-owned design-build firm, rated 5.0 across California, remodeling kitchens since 2009 (the Bay Area's 5.0-star design-build team, now serving Agoura Hills). Design happens in-house. Materials are sourced by our team, not handed off to a broker. Every trade on your job is our own crew. And when you call, a builder calls back within five minutes during business hours. Not a scheduler, not a salesman.

  • Family kitchens, not just estates
  • Permits handled on Ladyface Court
  • One crew, no subcontractors

Built in 1972. Remodeled for the next thirty years.

Most of Agoura Hills went up between the late 1960s and the 1980s (Morrison Ranch and Fountainwood filled in first, the hillside tracts followed), and the kitchens show it: galley layouts walled off from the family room, soffits over oak cabinets, tile counters, one window doing all the work.

What a kitchen remodel here actually fixes

A kitchen remodel in Agoura Hills usually fixes the same honest list. Open the wall to the family room. We handle the structural engineering ourselves. Put an island where the peninsula was. Lose the soffits, gain real storage. Bring the panel and circuits up to what a modern kitchen actually draws. Light the room like it's 2026, not 1976.

And in Old Agoura, where ranch houses have more footprint and a character worth keeping, the remodel starts as a design conversation, which is exactly the part we never outsource.

Permits, handled at the counter on Ladyface Court

Agoura Hills runs its own Building & Safety desk at City Hall, one of the few cities on the corridor that does. Interior kitchen work is the fast lane of the permit world here: no design review board, no months of waiting. We pull the permits, schedule the inspections, and keep the project legal without you taking a morning off to stand at a counter.

What's included

Every line below is our own licensed crew's work. CA License #1063024, no subcontractors, no handoffs. It's how a family company stays 5.0-star rated across California.

Layout and design in-house

Your plans drawn by our own team, with selections organized before anything is ordered.

Demolition, dust controlled

Daily dust protection, with the rest of the house walled off from the work zone.

Structural openings

The wall comes down with the engineering handled in-house and a properly sized beam carrying what it used to carry.

Cabinetry set by our crew

Cabinets hung and tuned by the same people who took the old ones out.

Counters, tile, and sourcing

Counters and tile bought by us and set by us, on a schedule that isn't waiting on anyone else's job.

Electrical, plumbing, lighting

Brought to current code and permitted, with a real lighting plan instead of one fixture doing all the work.

Walkthroughs to final inspection

Walkthroughs at every stage, the inspection cleared, and a kitchen that's done when we say done.

How it works

The same four steps on every kitchen we run, with the schedule in writing before demolition.

  1. 01

    Call or send the form

Reach us and a builder (not a call center) gets back to you within five minutes during business hours.

  2. 02

    Free on-site estimate

We measure, look at what the walls are likely hiding, and talk through what the kitchen has to do for your family.

  3. 03

    Plans and permits

Layout and selections drawn in-house, then the permit pulled at the Ladyface Court counter and the inspections booked.

  4. 04

    One crew builds it

Demolition through final walkthrough with our own people, on the written schedule you got before demo day.

Questions Agoura Hills homeowners ask

How long does a kitchen remodel take in Agoura Hills?
Plan on a few weeks of design and selections, a short permit stop at the city's own counter (interior kitchen work is the quick kind), and then several weeks of construction once demo starts, longer if we're opening walls or building custom. You get a written schedule before demolition, and because one crew runs the whole job, you're never waiting on a tile sub who's finishing someone else's house.
Do I need a permit to remodel a kitchen in Agoura Hills?
If the project moves plumbing, wiring, or walls (which almost every real remodel does), yes. The good news: Agoura Hills has its own Building & Safety counter at City Hall on Ladyface Court, and interior remodels don't go through design review. We prepare the paperwork, pull the permit, and meet the inspectors. You never handle any of it.
Can you open the kitchen to the family room?
That's the number-one request in the '60s–'80s tracts, and the answer is almost always yes, including load-bearing walls. It means a properly sized beam, engineering we handle in-house, and patching floor and ceiling so you'd never know the wall existed. On the first visit we'll tell you which walls carry weight and what the honest scope looks like.
Do we have to move out during the remodel?
Usually not. We wall off the work zone, run dust containment, and set up a temporary kitchen corner so the house keeps functioning. The loud, dusty phases get scheduled with you in advance. It's not glamorous for a few weeks. We'll say that to your face. But most families stay home.
Who does the design, and where do the materials come from?
Our own design team, in-house. No handoff to a third-party designer who's never met your builder. Cabinets, counters, tile, and fixtures are sourced by us, so selections happen in one organized process instead of a month of showroom laps. You approve everything before it's ordered.
Who is actually in my house?
Our crew. No subcontractors, no rotating cast. Mayer's Construction is family-owned, licensed (CA License #1063024), and has been doing this since 2009. You'll know the names of the people in your kitchen by day two, and the builder running your job answers his phone.
Our house is all original. What will you find behind the walls?
In homes from this era: panels short on capacity, circuits from another era, plumbing that's overdue, and sometimes an old remodel done without permits. We look early, before demolition, and fold the fix into the plan, so surprises get handled in design instead of mid-build. That's the difference between a schedule that holds and one that doesn't.

They worked hard to capture our vision, and if we ever ran into any issues, they worked with us to figure them out. We would happily use them again for another project.

Impeccable workmanship. Mike was a stickler for quality — insisting the tiles have mitred corners, even if I didn’t ask for it. Great communications, every step of the way.
